We’ve had a wonderful time at International Convention 2010. It has been a real delight spending this long weekend with the teens. The schedule was packed, but the time passed too quickly!
We engaged in an intense advocacy training simulation and issues discussion during the Day of Service as part of our Stand Up! campaign; we enjoyed a rousing Shabbat song session and more than 30 different Jewish educational workshops; we heard an inspiring keynote speaker, Neal Lazarus, who encouraged us to visit Israel; we held a ‘Think Pink’ Gala to raise awareness for breast cancer; and we were briefed on the State of the Order from our International Presidents, Adam Bloom and Emily Trotz.
In addition, we granted awards to Distinguished Alums Lee Wunsch of Houston and Carol Aaron of Dallas; recognized David Finer of Tulsa as our Bittker outstanding advisor of the year; and we celebrated excellence across our chapters with exemplary program awards .
We elected the 86th and 66th International Boards, and we are thrilled to announce our new Grand Aleph Godol, Jeremy Sherman of West Bloomfield, MI and our International N’siah, Arielle Braude of Cherry Hill, NJ.
If for some reason your teen’s flight is cancelled or they have other travel challenges that keep them in Dallas tomorrow (Monday) night, they
should contact Rona Goldstein on the IC emergency line, (347) 331-9480. If your teen needs to stay overnight in Dallas, we have a block of rooms reserved at the DFW Hyatt Regency. Your child will be responsible for any expenses incurred as the result of a flight cancellation.
When teens are dismissed tomorrow, they will have the emergency line and will be asked to use it in the event of a flight cancellation.
Thanks again for providing your teen the opportunity to attend IC. I hope that you will ask them to share the program with you and talk about what they learned. We feel so fortunate to be part of this caring BBYO family community and to get to know your teen.
See you at IC 2011 in Los Angeles (we’ve heard it doesn’t snow there).
